The return of the classic American muscle car to the highways and byways of Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Belle Fourche, and the entire United States has been a huge success over the past decade or so. And, some of the longest-legacy, powerful, and luxurious muscle cars on the market come from Dodge.

The new Challenger takes the technology up another step and sets the standard yet again for the class. It's larger than competitors and has an unabashed classic look, along with an aggressive attitude and profile. Let's check out a thorough breakdown and review of the performance specs, options packages, and features you'll get in the 2018 Dodge Challenger.

2018 Dodge Challenger

The newest model of 2018 Dodge Challenger brings an utterly blistering engine to the table. The new SRT Demon level gives you a head-pounding V8 engine, which gives you a class-leading 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque if you use octane race fuel, and 808 horsepower or 717 lb-ft of torque using premium unleaded gas. No street-legal car on the market comes close.

Other new features include an SRT Widebody model to follow up the Hellcat, as well as a Performance Handling Package to enhance 5.7-liter V8 model trims. You also get a bigger standard touchscreen and standard smartphone integration via Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay.

Performance Options

2018 Dodge Challenger Review

There are a wide range of engine options for the new Dodge Challenger. It starts with a 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 305 horses and 268 lb-ft of torque. From there, you can move into 5.7-liter V8 engine models putting out 375 horses and 410 lb-ft of torque with a 6-speed transmission, or 372 horses with 400 lb-ft of toque at the 8-speed transmission level.

A higher-end 6.4-liter V8 gives you 485 horses and 475 lb-ft, and the Hellcat is another major boost. Its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 delivers 707 horses and 650 lb-ft, already better than just about every other car on the road. Then, you step it up to the Demon, which has the above-mentioned 800+ horsepower engine. If you're looking for power and performance, the Challenger is quite simply the most powerful muscle car in history.

2018 Dodge Challenger  The 2018 Challenger doesn't stop at performance, though. It also offers degrees of technology and luxury that nobody else in the class can offer. It's among the few muscle cars that can also serve as a family sedan, since it seats five with fair comfort. Even at the base level, you get luxury features like heated auto-dim mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, automatic dual-zone climate control, and power driver seat.

In terms of infotainment, the entry level Dodge Challenger gives you a full 7-inch touchscreen with a rearview camera and Bluetooth®, plus Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ smartphone integration. You also get six speakers and dual USB ports, so no matter what your music style, you'll be able to play it.

It only steps up from there, with features like upgraded brakes, huge 8.4-inch touchscreen, Alpine® and Harman Kardon® audio systems, satellite radio, parking sensors, leather upholstery, and even up to a whopping 18 speakers for blistering sound. If there's a comfort, convenience, driver aid, or luxury feature, the Challenger probably offers it at some level.
