Jeep Cherokee: Engines, Efficiency, & MPG

The 2020 Jeep Cherokee comes with three dynamic engine options. Car shoppers select between the 2.0L turbo engine, the 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 engine, and the 3.2L Pentastar® V6 engine. Each offers unique benefits and fuel-efficiency improvements.

Car shoppers have the option to select the 2.0L turbo engine on the Latitude Plus, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, and Trailhawk Elite trims.

Drivers can also select between front and 4-wheel drive on every trim except the Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite, which come with standard 4-wheel drive. Below, you will find EPA-estimated ratings based on the front-wheel drive option.

Latitude, Latitude Plus, Altitude, & Limited

In the Latitude, Latitude Plus, Altitude, and Limited trims, below the hood lives the 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 engine. Paired with front-wheel drive and 9-speed automatic transmission, this system balances performance with fuel efficiency.

High Altitude, Upland, & North Edition

Under the hood of the High Altitude, Upland, and North Edition, drivers will find a powerful 3.2L Pentastar® V6 engine. Not only does this engine pack a punch, but thanks to automatic Engine Stop/Start technology, you still save fuel with every stop. 

Trailhawk & Trailhawk Elite

The Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite share their engines with the previous two trims. However, they earn different MPG ratings due to their additional off-roading capabilities-including a versatile 4-wheel drive powertrain that the Active Drive Lock feature automatically engages across uneven terrain.
