If you're in the market for a new sports car, there are no better options than the Dodge Charger and the Ford Mustang. Both vehicles have been at the top of the class for decades, thanks to performance and power, but which one is the right choice for you?

Drivers in Sioux Falls, Belle Fourche, and Rapid City can find out the key differences between these sports cars by taking a look at our Dodge Charger vs. Ford Mustang comparison.

Dodge Charger vs Ford Mustang: Performance

The Charger comes with engines ranging from a 292-horsepower V6 to a 707 horsepower V8, giving you all the power you want for your lifestyle. The Mustang also offers several engine options, ranging from a 310 horsepower 4-cylinder to a 5.0-liter V8 with 475 horsepower.

The Charger not only has the more powerful engine options of the two, but it also has better driving dynamics and agility. It offers a smooth ride and glides through turns, which works well for both a passenger car and a weekend joy ride, whereas the Mustang leaves a lot of athleticism to be desired.

Interior space is usually a compromise when you want a powerful sports car, but not with the Charger. This sedan is designed to accommodate passengers, providing comfortable seating with plenty of support and space to stretch out. The Mustang, on the other hand, has a cramped cabin and a rear seat that isn't designed for much more than a small child. Both vehicles have high-quality upholstery and upscale accents, however, as well as interior comfort upgrades.

The Charger also offers a 16.5-cubic-foot trunk, which outperforms the whole class and falls in line with other sedans. This is more than enough space for weekend luggage or a full load of grocery bags. The Mustang falls short here as well, offering only a 13.5-cubic-foot trunk that could barely fit golf clubs.

Technology

The Charger comes with a Uconnect® infotainment system with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® compatibility, satellite radio, Bluetooth® connectivity, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Mustang also offers an infotainment system, but the standard system only has a 4.2-inch infotainment screen. Getting an upgraded system requires a much higher trim level.

For safety, the Charger also offers Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and Forward Collision Warning. The Mustang offers similar features, but as with the technology, they're only found in the higher trim levels.
